Every day, we're confronted with so many reasons to throw in the towel, feel discouraged, or regress to selfish me, me, me thinking. It's tempting to disconnect and drift into hopelessness as we come across news or events that shatter our expectations of humanity over and over.
But that's never helpful to ourselves or the people around us. As I have shared many times, our energy begets the energy around us.
So in 2023, I am doubling down on the opposite of our tendency to disengage. Instead, I will lean into the very complicated and challenging world we're living in. I will find ways to connect and seek joy. Not because I will always want to (or know how to) find the good in a moment but because fighting the tide of discontentment feels courageous right now. I can give in, or I can find joy. I’m choosing the latter.
I will do my best in whatever situations I find myself in in 2023. Whomever I'm with, I'm going to foster connection. And wherever I am, I will do the most good that I can, while I can.
Things can simultaneously be difficult and good. While some things challenge us, we can find happiness in and around those things. This can all coexist. I hope you join me in finding a mindset that pushes you toward courageous action and rebellious joy.
Here’s to a great year ahead. Happy New Year.
